POPCORN MAKER

A couple of weeks ago my friend asked me to look for a POPCORN MAKER. She is having a CARNIVAL birthday party for her daughter! Such a CUTE idea to have a POPCORN MAKER at the party!
I told her "sure - it's funny how it works, but I will find one." I haven't seen one (that I can remember) in the last 5 years of garage saling. But it just happens. I will find it. No worries!
So I looked on Craigslist and found a couple of POPCORN MAKERS. I showed her one and she agreed it was just what she was looking for and it was $20. As I was grocery shopping I happened to see a brand new POPCORN MAKER for $35.

THEN THE OTHER DAY I FOUND THIS!
AND IT WAS...
$1
I couldn't believe it!
Perfecto!
And she has a GREAT IDEA... Even if it doesn't work (we haven't even tried it yet) but she can make the popcorn somewhere else (microwave or stovetop) and just fill up the POPCORN MAKER! It is the cutest accessory for a CARNIVAL party!!!

Price tags on the bottom!

I am finding more and more sales where they actually place the price tag on the bottom of the items for sale! I LOVE THIS! Then you don't have to worry about that sticky goo from the price tag stuck all over. I have sometimes passed up on an item where I have seen that the price tag has damaged the item - like on the covers of books.
I love it when the prices for picture frames are on the back! I don't have to get out the Goo Gone to remove the sticky goo from the glass! I almost cry when I pull off a price tag and it has removed the finish from a wood piece.
And another big NO NO is writing the price on the item with a black permanent marker. I did buy a Scrabble game - because I wanted it for the tiles - but the price was written right on the game box. I would hesitate putting that in my home game collection.
I have found one trick to remove the black permanent marker from clothes. Sometimes I will find clothes that have been personalized - writing their child's name on the tag or in the collar. I have sprayed WD-40 on the marker and it rubs right out! Then, of course, I throw it into the washing machine.

Thank you for putting the price tags on the BOTTOM!

$20 at Salvation Army

It's not the things you buy

I ran into another garage saler today that I saw out treasure hunting yesterday. He had a great quote for me today.

Most unique find at a garage sale! FLAGSTONE

Paid $30 for a load of flagstone. I am going to use it to make steps and a path down our hill to our pond behind our house!!

Tinkerbell

I found this frame for $5 !
Its a $20 frame from Disney World. It is perfect for my daughter's room with a picture from our trip this year!!

Let's go!

GPS

I couldn't do this without my GPS. I have the address for an estate sale and I enter that into my Garmin. I would have no idea how to get there without my electronic map. There aren't any signs to direct the way to this sale.
I definitely get to see neighborhoods around my city that I have never seen before!

I found it!

Lots of antiques here.

Good morning!!

A treasure in my mailbox!

Yay! I can't wait to flip through these pages! Thank you Aunt Connie for this magazine subscription of DO IT YOURSELF by BETTER HOMES and GARDENS!

Craigslist

This year I have really been getting into Craigslist. I think I search through the furniture section every day! My first purchase off Craigslist was our kitchen table. I was looking for a round, pedestal table. I wanted 6 chairs but I settled for 4 when I found the PERFECT table right in our town for a GREAT price! The pickup was simple and it even fit in my vehicle without any problems. The wood is light color and I have ideas of painting it black!!!

We have been away for a few days for the holiday weekend and I am missing my Craigslist!

What is your favorite Craigslist story?

Oops! Paint

I found a couple gallons of Oops paint at Home Depot to paint all this furniture I am finding. Some very nice colors of paint for $5 a gallon! When a paint color is mixed and it doesn't turn out the right shade for the customer Home Depot marks it as Oops paint and reduces the price to get rid of it!!

Have you seen American Pickers?

I am loving the show American Pickers. 2 guys from Iowa drive a big truck around the country looking for treasures in garages and barns. Sounds like fun to me!!

Perfect to take to the lake this holiday weekend!

We got to our first sale today at 8am. There were some amazing furniture finds. (desks!) We had 2 vehicles filled and returned home to unload by 9am. Whew! Then we went back out to 3 more sales and Salvation Army. We had both our vehicles filled AGAIN! Time to call it a day. And it was a GORGEOUS 70 degree and sunny day for treasure hunting!
