$2 Christmas

From all my garage sale shopping over the summer I was able to get all the Christmas gifts for the girls this year! I would get good deals all year long and hide it away. I was so excited to sort it all out and see what I had! It was amazing! I had just the right amount for both of them. I paid $2 each for these treasures and spent less than $100 for all their gifts!!!

Lite Brite

I remember playing with Lite Brite for hours. I bought this for $2 this summer and I just brought it out tonight for the first time. The girls spent a good 25 minutes working together on making this snowman while we made dinner! My 3 year old just LOVES Frosty right now. She finds Frosty everywhere and she carries one around. Today I had to buy snowman wrapping paper just for her presents. I can't wait to see her get excited over the paper!

Ready for snow!

We have a few flakes of snow on the ground and the girls are ready to go sledding! I bought these 2 sleds at garage sales this summer for $3 and $4 each so we are all set! We do need a bit more snow first though. The most important part of a sled for me is the rope so I can pull the girls back home when they are too tired to walk!

Merry Christmas Wooden Blocks

What I love about garage sales and even church sales is being able to find unique items. I found this wooden block set at a church sale for $3. I love the rustic look. I am not sure what store I would find something like this. My 5 year old helped me put the letters in order.

OMG! Silhouette! 1st project idea.

I could hardly believe it! Over 5000 entries in the Silhouette giveaway at ThriftyDecorChick.com and I won!! I cannot wait to try it out. Here is my first project idea. This plaque was $3 at Salavation Army. It is 14 inches x 9.5 inches. I want to paint it and create vinyl letters to display our family name (Moore) and the year we were married (2001). Should I paint it dark with light letters? Or paint it a light color and add dark letters?

6 New Tables!

My kitchen table Craiglist find. I loved the size and the price.
It came with 4 matching chairs but we have moved out 2 of them and replaced them with 2 kid chairs. I would LOVE to paint everything glossy black! I may need some help with that.

My first garage sale purchase this year (in May). I saw this cute white table when I was driving by and I had to stop the car and take a look. Only $2. It needs a fresh coat of paint but it is a perfect craft table for the girls in "grandma's room".

Great deal! $15
I can't wait to sand this down and paint it white! I am even considering adding padding on the top and covering it with fabric for nice new seating in our family room. I would have to chop off a few inches of the legs so it wasn't too tall.

IKEA table and 2 chairs. This is a great little kids table. I paid $5 for this one. And this is our 2nd one. We actually bought this table and chairs set from IKEA brand new for $20 last year. It is so handy. When I found another for $5 I knew it would get used! This one is in my oldest daughters room. The other one is in the playroom being used as a "kitchen" table.

Simple little side table. $5

Cute. Adorable. Perfect.
$30
It fits PERFECT in our kitchen. ADORABLE for tea parties! CUTE fabric on the chairs but my youngest tried to add color to them with her black markers. I do want to replace the fabric. I am looking for the right cupcake fabric.

Girls craft weekend

My aunt hosts a girls weekend for all the cousins. There are 6 girls under 7 years. We get together to do crafts and eat great food while the guys go hunting.
Over the summer, during my garage sale adventures, I have been picking up different crafts and projects for the girls. Last year we made soap and jewelry and sculpted clay and more. This year we can paint beads, make charm jewelry, use a flower press, mold bouncy balls, paint sun catchers, and create mosaic art. I paid anywhere from 25 cents to 3 dollars per set. We have over 10 projects here and I got them all for around 15-20 bucks total. Most of the boxes have never been opened. The ones that have been opened are perfect to use as supplies!
See you soon ladies!! Watch out. We might get glitter everywhere!

Gumball machine

Candy! Gumballs! I can't wait to fill this with colorful candies. I found this for $2 and cleaned it all up! It's 11 inches tall and it's in great shape. Now which room do we put it in? Maybe the girls can use money they earn to buy sweet treats! A happy accessory for our home!
I have actually seen someone transform theirs into a fish tank. Interesting idea!

Now what?

So I loved this piece and I knew I had to have it but I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it. It was only 50 cents which made me even more interested in it. The top comes off the base and it is 11 inches tall. My kids have already started to use it as a cage for their toys. So now what do I do with it? I have been finding a lot of inspiration over at http://thriftydecorchick.com. Maybe she can help me out!

Our latest craigslist purchase. Trampoline

We thought our girls would just get so much use out of a trampoline. They love their gymnastics class. So we found this for $100 on craigslist. No way could we afford a brand new one. We drove 2 vehicles to their house (about 30 minutes away) and took it apart. Then it took several hours to set it back up in our backyard. It was worth it. The girls love it! They will use this for many, many years.

Blue mason jars

Pottery Barn chair

This was one of my FAVORITE finds this summer!! We had purchased a Pottery Barn Anywhere chair for our oldest daughter for Christmas one year. We have wanted to buy a second chair for our youngest daughter. It was on our wish list. Then I spotted this large Anywhere chair at a garage sale. I peeked at the price tag. $5. I just had to have it! This chair is $129 at Pottery Barn! Perfect! I was so excited I gave it to her that day. I couldn't wait for Christmas. It would have been perfect under the tree though. She was happy! It is lavender. A perfect color for her.

Where should I put it?

I found this awesome cubby furniture piece today. I don't know what to call it and I am not sure where I am going to put it. But I LOVE it! I might paint it a different color. Black or chocolate? Keep it white? Depends on where I put it. I got it and all 3 baskets for $21.50 total !!

Saying goodbye to the world's longest yard sale

We ate fried pies. Saw lots of antiques. Survived temperatures in the 90s. And covered about 50 miles of 127 in Tennessee.

It was interesting to see the crowds of people.
We would find areas with over a dozen tents set up with treasures. Or there would be houses that would have one lonely table by the road piled with 'stuff' for sale. In some places the traffic was so heavy that it was faster to walk than to drive. Even though the official start was Thursday there were many tables set up a week early. Since today was the last day of the sale, some vendors announced everything was 'half off'. Just a couple treasures that I am bringing home from this trip. What an adventure!

Now I need a good cookbook.

I bought this stand for $5! It's so heavy and sturdy. Now I need the perfect cookbook for it.

Research

Doing a little research.

We made it to TN!

We made it to Tennessee and the action has already started on 127. The big sale officially begins on August 5 but tables and tents are already setup. We spent a couple of hours looking around different places along 127. So far it seems to be antique store items with antique store prices. But it's early yet. I will wait for Thursday and travel to other areas along 127 to find treasures! I haven't bought anything yet.
